Hemp is a naturally occurring component of the hemp plant, one of the most well-known cannabinoids, second to THC. It provides all the numerous benefits associated with THC without its intoxicating, psychoactive effects. Hemp naturally boosts our body’s homeostasis (stability of our internal environment) and in return, quality of sleep improves, moods are balanced, relaxation is enhanced, injury recovery is accelerated, the immune system is strengthened, and much more.
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is the body’s regulatory system. Its’ job is to maintain homeostasis (stability of our internal environment). Our body naturally produces endocannabinoids, which act the same as plant cannabinoids, and they bind to receptors found all over our body including the central nervous system (the brain contains the most receptors in our body and spinal cord), immune system, organs, glands and many more.
What is a cannabinoid?
Cannabinoids are naturally-occurring molecules found in both the human body, as well as plants. Cannabinoids activate the receptors found throughout our body; every cannabinoid in our system (100+ known to date) interact uniquely with receptors, each producing unique results. Research has shown that hemp does not activate the brain receptors, making it largely non-psychoactive.Please consult your family doctor as Melon does not provide prescriptions nor medical advice.
Melon Hemp & You
How much hemp should I take?
As with anything, moderation is key. There are many factors that go into deciding the quantity of hemp one can consume to achieve the desired results without causing any harm. The dose or serving is based on your weight, metabolism and genetics. Everyone has a unique ECS, some people will only need a small dose to achieve their desirable effect while others will require a larger dose. It is always recommended to start with a small dose, generally around 10-25mg and work up to 100-150 mg should you feel the need. Effects will not be felt immediately upon consumption. We recommend waiting for around 2 hours before taking another dose.
Is hemp Psychoactive?
Hemp is not psychoactive, it will not give a ‘high’ effect as it does not react with our bodies the way THC does. THC directly binds with brain receptors, causing a psychoactive high. Hemp, however, binds to a location on these receptors.
